Dear [MP's name], (Find your MP here)

I am writing to you as one of your constituents to urge you to support the decriminalization of sex work in our country. As you may be aware, sex workers are some of the most vulnerable members of our society, facing violence, exploitation, and discrimination on a daily basis. Decriminalization would not only help to protect their human rights, but also reduce the harms associated with sex work and improve public health.

When sex work is decriminalized, sex workers can begin to embark on a much needed journey of enjoying their freedoms, ensuring that their status as Canadian citizens include all of the human rights afforded to the rest of society.  A considerate harm reduction model by way of decriminalization is necessary to ensure sex workers are protected and benefit from the law "without discrimination".  Sex workers should have the right to safe working conditions.  Sex workers should not be discriminated against when applying for rental accommodations.  Sex workers should not be afraid to reveal their occupation when accessing healthcare.  Refugees and sponsored immigrants should not be prevented from gainful self-employment as sex workers.

I am hoping that you will take action to support the decriminalization of sex work. As an elected official, you have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of your constituents, particularly those who are most marginalized.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know your thoughts on this issue and what steps you are taking to promote decriminalization.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,
